Untitled Story 01 Part 3

Without any hesitation, they went inside. Inside, everything was in order. The candles, the pews, the statues and the altar, were neatly kept, as if someone really took care of it. Few seconds later, the candles lit in succession, followed by the ringing of the bells from the bell tower, then the eerie sound of the pipe organ.

“It’s a perfect place for a thriller movie.” Ringo muttered a bit frightened.

“The music is somehow… creepy.” Paul remarked while listening to the pipe organ’s tune. “Maybe, I would like to try playing that instrument one time.”

Approaching to the altar, they sat down on the pew, sighed. As George knelt down, Ringo tapped John’s shoulder, quite uneasy with the ambiance of the place, asked about their reason to be here.

“I don’t know. I just like it.”

“John!” he muttered, quite upset upon hearing the answer.

A priest, wearing a black robe and a dark red stole, came while carrying a large black tome. While going to the altar, George immediately sat down. The priest, then, placed the tome on the stand, arranging it. For awhile, he saw those four boys. Paul immediately looked at him through his eyes.

“The Beatles, I presume?” the pastor asked, going down from the altar, approached them. “How unlikely of people like you come to this church. Anyway, state your business before I start the mass.”

John spoke respectfully. “Well, Father, since we’ve arrived in Liverpool, do you know exactly what happened to this place?”

“What do you mean?”

“Father,” Paul added as his eyes were still focused. “The outside seemed so… different compared when we were still here before we left–”

The priest, sighed, massaged his eyes, explained what happened. Meanwhile, Ringo looked up on the ceiling, quite bothered. He saw an apparition, floating around above. He nudged George.

“What now?”

“I saw a spirit.”

“Where?”

As He pointed up, they saw nothing. George sighed. After the explanation of the priest, Ringo nudged John and Paul, yet his friends were still preoccupied with some matters.

“Is alright with you gentlemen if you stay here for awhile for the mass?” the pastor asked, while he returned to the altar.

“Sure, why not?”

The mass started. The main door suddenly opened by itself. Four coffins appeared, pushing by some people, left them at the Altar. Afterwards, the people who pushed it inside, left the area, shut the door tight.

“Funeral mass, huh?” Paul muttered, looking at those coffins, looked at Ringo’s pale face. “Rings, what happened to you?”

“Nothing, Paul. IT was nothing… ahahaha.” Ringo answered, laughing eccentrically.

“More like that you have something in mind that we don’t know.” John interrupted, teased him. “Come on, don’t hesitate.”

As the priest came to the four caskets, he called them to bring it outside. Strong wind came inside. Though Ringo didn’t mention what he exactly feel, the rest felt strange. Everyone pushed four sarcophagi outside. On the cathedral’s graveyard, they saw four graves dug. The priest was standing, waiting for them.

“Father,” George excused himself, asked. “I was wondering, who is inside those… coffins?”

“Ah. Those good fellows who made their purpose in life.”

“I see.”

“You could take a last look before you bury them.”

As the four opened each casket, they were shocked. It is unbelievable that they saw their future self, lifeless and tranquil inside. They were now trembling with fear. Turning around, the priest approached them, touched Paul’s right shoulder, told them to placed them on the graveyard.

“W-we c-can’t do that!” Paul replied, completely frightened upon hearing what the pastor ordered.

“Though we respect for the dead,” Ringo added, held his coffin tight. “We can’t just simply…”

“Really then?”

The priest immediately pulled him away from the casket, pushed him then to the hole. John began to pull the priest robe upward, yet the pastor hit his head by the tome, pulled him down to the another hole. George and Paul were stunned, speechless. While he was endlessly sermon them, George and Paul began to pull the others back, however, he grabbed Paul’s hands. Struggling his way out, he accidentally pushed George to the third hole.

“My, you’ve pushed your dear friend away.” The priest mocked him, going to the last hole.

Paul head bashed him, yet, it missed. The pastor just pushed him down. He made a last sermon to them. For awhile, John, Paul, George and Ringo heard footsteps and the sounds of the shovels. They climbed their way out, yet, the people pushed them down, began to bury them alive. As the ground level slowly increasing, they saw once again their selves in a phantom form, lend them a hand and muttered:

Everyone’s waiting for you.

As they grabbed their respective spirit’s hand, a flash appeared. The entire events reversed.
